| This page is about the tools Wiccans use in spells and
rituals
Athame
Traditionally a black-handles
witches knife, but can comes in many colors in wicca, as I was told the color dose not
mater what color it is. It is a double edged knife with a blade of about five to six
inches long. This is the primary tool in witchcraft's spells and rituals, often use to
cast circles.

Cup
The cup is a variant of the
cauldron. The cup is also called the chalice. It is used to hold salt water during
exorcisms or wine of libation. Wine of libation is the sacramental wine which is consumed
in some ceremonies, and also use to consecrate things.

Cord
The cord has many names like,
girdle, cinqulum, or cable tow. The name cable tow is derived from its various initiation
rituals (tow something and get it moving). The cord's basic and primary use is to measure
the radius of you circle (Casting circles) and for binding things.
Censer
A tool used to burn incense in.
Book
of shadows
Also know as a spell book or
work book, this is like the Wiccans journal where they write all the spells, rituals,
poems, thoughts and so on... Where your book is doesn't matter. I have mine on computer as
well as a book. Note that the book of shadows on this site is a communal book and dose not
contain all my text from my own personal book. Your book of shadows is not for
showing off to people, the only eyes that should very see it, is them in your coven or
other trusted Wiccans.

Burin
Some times called the Bolline,
this is a minor tool with a white handle traditionally. It is used for cutting herbs and
for cutting other thing. The athame should never be use for such jobs.

Wand
or Staff
The wand or staff can be use to
focus energy, cast circles and so on. wands are made from wood traditionally.
Bell
Ues for spells and rituals using
sound vibrations
Cauldron
symbol of the Goddess. Used for
cooking, flowers, or containing a fire. Generally
made or iron and found in all sizes. |
